And so it's begun...our big road trip around America.
Day 1
We left after work yesterday, driving about 200 miles from Austin to Irving, Texas, where our good friends Corey and Alissa live in a gorgeous house. They have graciously agreed to foster Tiger and Aggie while we're on the road. After 3 hours in the car, Tiger and Aggie had a blast running around in the yard.
Oh, and the dogs have also started their own blog! We're looking forward to keeping track of our boys there ;-)
While Corey grilled chicken for dinner, I played fetch with the dogs, and Kim and Alissa caught up on girl talk.

After dinner, Corey and I sampled a handful of dessert wines, rare batch bourbons, and finished the night off with a couple of single malt Scotch whiskies (a 17 year Balvenie, and a 21 year Dalmore).

And then we watched World Cup highlights and American Wedding in their private theater, while the dogs chewed through a couple of rawhide bones.

Day 2
In the morning, I geeked out a bit, with Corey showing me some neat tricks with Google's Blogger, Latitude, Maps, and Docs.

We played with the dogs a bit more, and left Irving mid-morning, heading for my parent's house in Addis, Louisiana, driving over 400 miles. We had dinner with my parents at Landry's Seafood House in Henderson, Louisiana -- ah, real Cajun food, yes! Oh, and the waiter saw my shirt and proudly told us that he runs Ubuntu, too :-D

I road the rest of the way home with my Dad, teaching him how to use the GPS (which I got him for Father's Day). And we picked up some supplies to change the oil in the Jeep tomorrow.
Oh, and we bought a new lens (55mm - 250mm) for our Canon SLR, and I wanted to play with it a bit. Geckos abound here in Louisiana, and they're quite photogenic ;-)

Tomorrow, we're frying fish for Father's Day with my family. I'm really looking forward to it!
:-Dustin
