We're spending this weekend with Kim's parents at their beautiful home on the Jourdan River in Mississippi. You'd be hard pressed to find slower, easier living than this! It's kind of a spa, with Cajun cooking.
We slept late on Saturday morning, and went for a swim in the river. Swim is a bit of a stretch. It was more of a float, while drinking beer and relaxing. I'm watching the US World Cup game against Ghana right now, hoping for the US to pull out another miracle and stay alive. I got a kick out of this pin being sold by the USA Soccer store:
The days are hot and sunny here, but the nights are really dark, with lots of stars, and there was a gorgeous full moon last night.
This was an area that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, with over 20 feet of water in most homes in the neighborhood. But these are a resilient people, having worked tirelessly to rebuild their homes and their lives, and the spirit of Jourdan shores is stronger than ever.
