Suzanne took me and the kids to Henry Ford's Greenfield Village. Oh, my God I loved it every minute of it!
Greenfield Village started as Henry Ford's back yard.
At around the time of the Great Depression, Ford unlike many others in his day, was a millionaire, so with his great fortune he decided to put it to good use and he began collecting some of the country's most historic building's and homes of his generation, such as the childhood home and laboratory of Thomas Edison.

And the childhood home and bicycle shop of the Wright Brothers. There of hundreds of treasures in this little village, all being displayed with the strictest of historical accurateness.
This was Henry Ford's childhood school house.
All of the employees are dressed in the period style clothes of the time of the homes and some of them act as a living museum, cooking meals with food fresh from the gardens and making phone calls at the five and dime store (because not everyone had a phone back then).
Spending the day wandering around the village with the sweetest, most thoughtful and adorable kids you could imagine was one of the highlights of the trip so far...I will definitely go back someday!
Much of the town was very photogenic!
Can you tell what this is?
How about a pane of very old glass? :-)
Some of the old slate roofs are covered in a fine green moss.
