Some Landscapes in Yellowstone

Each of our days in Yellowstone were punctuated by the thunderstorms that roared and rumbled over our heads.

But every time the clouds broke, we were rewarded with heavenly skies.

The quick succession of dark black skies and bright blue crystal clear skies made for a manic display of weather, and a sequence of photographs that's rather difficult to explain.

Some of the most intense weather we experienced was on the shores of Lake Yellowstone, as we were packing up our camp in Lake Village, on the morning we left for Mammoth Hot Springs. Gorgeous clear skies...

...were almost instantaneously overtaken by a "thunderbumper", raining pea sized hail for several minutes.

Periods of intense threaten clouds, heavy rain, and even hail, were oddly interspersed with bursts of clear, blue skies and sunshine.

And then back again...

One particular break in the clouds rendered this complete rainbow. Full rainbows will always hold special meaning to Kim and I, and this one was quite moving.
