I wish I could tell you a remarkable story about fossils and prehistoric creatures in Dinosaur, CO. This is the gateway town to Dinosaur National Monument. We visited the welcome center, though, only to learn that only remaining fossils were under restoration. We could drive some 50 miles to view some petroglyphs, but I couldn't be away from work for that long. So we snagged the map and skipped Dinosaur entirely :-( We did, however, see for the first time ever another Jeep Liberty CRD (ie, a diesel engine like ours)!
The best story about Dinosaur, CO, though would have to be our "motel". We showed up late (just before midnight), and barely got a "room". Turns out the place was sold out, almost entirely. Everything except for the double-wide trailer out back :-) So Kim and I had a multi-bedroom trailer all to ourselves. Kim was previously rater skeptical about "motels", but this bit of Americana might just have charmed her over!
