Some Wildlife in Yellowstone

These pictures are a little jumbled, but they sort of follow a theme -- that of the admirable wildlife wandering around Yellowstone.

Signs everwhere in the park warn about how wild the wildlife actually is. Deer, elk, bison, bears (grizzly and black), and wolves are all regulars in the park. We actually saw each of these, except for wolves. All park patrons, by law, are required to keep a safe distance from the creatures.

Imagine our surprise when we saw this, a lone bison leisurely walking down the middle of a two-laned road, comfortably crossing a bridge!

You might think the gal in orange is quickly stuffing her toddler back into the vehicle for her safety. Alas, she is not. Nope, she's taking her *out* of the car to get a closer look of the beast!

They got much closer to the buffalo than Kim thought safe. And I agreed with her. They were lucky. We watched several videos in the visitor center of park-goers being "gored" by bison. Ow. But fortunately, these morons were spared and we did not waste gigs of our flash media recording a goring.

Other bison prefer a more traditional approach, with mom, dad, and a couple of calves swimming across the river. This was a lovely sight; far more comforting than the crowded bridge crossing.

Our only encounter with a bear in Yellowstone was a very distant one. The three fury blobs here are in fact a mother grizzly with two cubs, in a field about a half mile away from us. This is a 72x zoom, so its heavily pixelated and blurred, so much so that I've considered scapping the grizzly story and instead telling you all about the family of sasquatch on the run in Yellowstone. But I decided against that one :-) Anyway, such is the price of safely photographing grizzly bears in their natural habitat. I'll take it.
