Camping in Asheville, NC

I think Kim and I are quite self-sufficient on this trip. We've been hosted so far by the Kirklands, Cordells, deBarroses, Groses, Pattersons, and the Graners. Thanks so much to them for all of their hospitality!

Up until this point, everyone has had a bed for us, but we are traveling with an air mattress...just in case ;-)

We're also pretty well stocked for doing some camping, and we got to use the tent for the first time this past weekend, camping two nights along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We spent the first night near Asheville, NC at Campfire Lodgings., where the views of the mountains and valley were spectacular (even if it was a little rainy).

And there were huge butterflies everywhere.

We met up with on of my good friends from high school, Paul Losavio, who was working in nearby Charlotte that week. I don't think I've seen Paul more than 3 or 4 times in about 13 years, but I had a great time eating, drinking, and laughing. Time passes--kindred spirits don't.

nota bene... Bavarian cuisine cures hangovers, but grossly distorts your figure. Yikes.

Thanks for driving out and joining us, Paul! I had a great time.

And with that, we're off to the Blue Ridge Parkway ...
