North Carolina and the Graners!

Meet Amber, Pete, Matt, Becca, & Murphy!

We next visited with one of Dustin's co-workers and his family. While Dustin worked with Pete, Amber showed me all around town and told me all about the town's history. Amber has a wealth of knowledge and she taught me so much while I was there. I really enjoyed our time getting to know one another!

One night we went into town to hear Becca (Pete and Amber's daughter) sing with a local band. The whole family is very musically talented and later that night before dinner we all sang fun songs while the guys played guitar. Everyone was so hospitable, cooking us delicious, southern meals and making us feel right at home. (Becca, thanks for letting us steal your room while we were there) We hope that they will come to Austin sometime and stay with us so we can return the hospitality!

This is the hotel where Dirty Dancing was filmed, The Lake Lure Inn. Just one of the charming town's claim to fame. It is set in middle of some beautiful mountain views, along a road filled with antique and specialty stores. Totally my kind of place. I would recommend you visit there sometime and take me with you!

Thanks a million to Pete and Amber for hosting us. Dustin particularly appreciated the nearly infinite bandwidth, and I just loved Amber's artsy crafty way :-)

  1. Hey Kim!

You all are welcome anytime! I thought of like a million other things that 1) I wish I had taken you to see 2) a million other crafty things we could have done and 3) oh I should have cooked this instead... :-/

We love company - you know we don't get many 'strangers' around here - when new folk come for a spell they update the population numbers (as we are so small they are listed on a chalkboard).

But seriously - next time we will let the guys geek out and plan a better adventure!

    Thanks for brighting our day!
