Okay, so we made it back on the road yesterday, resuming our trip after a 2 week hiatus in Baton Rouge. On Tuesday, June 22nd, Kimmie had a severe bout of chest pain -- bad enough that we had to rush her to the emergency room. It turned out to be gall stones. We hung around Baton Rouge for an extra week to see a few specialists. The nice part was that I got to spend some extra time with my family.
So on Wednesday, June 30th, Kim had her gall bladder removed. It's a pretty straight-forward procedure, and the gall bladder isn't even really needed.
But that was followed by Kim spending a couple of relaxing days with Bob and Gerri in Mississippi, on the mend at the Carpe Diem Jourdan River Spa.
And finally, Saturday, July 3rd, we got back on the road, driving 640 miles from Kiln, Mississippi to Savannah, Georgia! You can listen to Kim tell you about it...
Sadly, we had to skip the drive down to Key West and back :-( But we did drive the length of the panhandle of Florida, and got just a taste of Florida.
Kim is still taking pain medication, so I did all of the driving. We made it in just under 9 hours, making one (yes, ladies, one) stop for restrooms and lunch. Now that's rolling! However, by the end of the drive, I was getting a little batty...
We didn't bring any instruments, so I have to settle for air guitar, air bass, and air piano :-)
We finally got to Savannah around 8pm, and had dinner at The Belford with none-other-than our dog sitters, Corey and Alissa :-) They happened to be in Georgia for a weekend out of town. Who's watching the dogs, you ask? Corey's brother, Carter.
Today's Kimmie's birthday, so we're going to spend it doing whatever she wants in and around Savannah!

Ok I have to admit that this is my favorite blog post thus far, BUT I have a few comments!
ReplyDeleteFirst...Kim, you look like you are feeling much better and happy! I love Dustin's interviewing skills...from your blog post, I was going to suggest that you become a writer in your "spare" time, but now I'm thinking a reporter might not be bad either!
Second, Kimmie...I don't think my food was the only one to blame! But I'll forgive you because it was about the healthiest I could get.
Third, Dustin, you seriously crack me up with your air musical skills. Jeremy and I laughed the whole video long! Jeremy asks, "Is he driving? That isn't safe!" hahaha!
Next, Dustin, I have to say that you must have had to pay off a lot of people to get all of those fireworks for that beautiful wife of yours...but, she is definitely worth it! Haha! What a lucky girl!
Kimmie, I'm sure your next 30 years will be amazing...you will add a few more notches to your belt from experiences, but trust that God would never give you more than you can handle.
In conclusion, I have to say that I'm pea green with envy because it looks like ya'll are having the time of your lives!
