Monday!
While Dustin was hard at work...
I started the day at the National Museum where I saw a pretty cool archaeological excavation of an ancient civilization, a large collection of minerals and gems, and a zoological exhibit of everything from a gigantic fin whale to a tiny chipmunk. All of which displayed behind almost invisible glass cases so one time when I turned the corner I jumped about three feet in the air when I saw a giant python coiled up and ready to strike...Ahh! oops...not alive, must recover from embarrassing display of fear.
Then up to the Castle
I completed the "short tour" consisting of the cathedral, part of the living quarters of the palace, a basilica, and a convent.
The convent was actually used to house daughters of society people who had lost their fortunes. It was pretty interesting to see how they lived from day to day even how they took care of their rodent population by automatic guillotine. eek!
Next I visited the toy museum where they probably can boast of the largest Barbie collection in the world. Hey Steph, do these ladies look familiar?
Don't worry they didn't leave the guys out.
Then on to the pub! U Flecku was founded in 1499! They come to the tables with beer and interestingly strong liquors before you even order!

They've figured out over 500 years ago that people go to pubs to drink and most people don't care what, so why waste time with a menu. But very much unlike in America you actually have to refuse it very vehemently I might add and shout out what you do want as they speed away to another table. "White wine, Please...!"
Next we moved onto an Absinthe bar. There are pretty much two ways to have Absinthe, warm or cold. I would imagine that "cold" is a relatively easy preparation, but warm on the other hand has quite a process to it. Sugar and fire are major ingredients!
