Once I rode the metro downtown (karma's preferred method) I visited the Spy museum and became evermore so grateful to live in a free country!
Next I toured Ford's theater, the death place of President Lincoln. I was a little disappointed that nothing is original inside the theater. After the assassination the govt. took control of the building, gutted it down to the studs, and turned it into office buildings. It has been reconstructed to look like the original floor plan, but at this point I would totally expect Disney to come in there and install animatronics to reenact the scene, but sadly they did not. I also saw the house where they brought Lincoln after the shooting, but nothing is original in that place either, but you get the gist.
Next on to lunch... Veggie burger, salad (not fries, see I'm behaving!) and on every plate came an oreo cookie! I love it, oreo cookies should be served with every meal...don't you agree?
Later I headed to Arlington Cemetery where I saw JFK's eternal flame and the changing of the guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier. It was an amazing sight and after having witnessed it I became even more aware of the sacrifices our service men and women and veterans have made on our behalf and I'd like to take a moment to thank all of them now.
Kate picked me up at the cemetery and we had a really fun time eating dinner at a local bar and grill in Arlington-Thanks for hanging out with me, Kate I had so much fun!
